The Recipe-Exchange Phase

I did my Master's in San Jose State University, a university that was highly populated with married women. Wherever I went I heard women exchanging recipes, cribbing about morning sickness and sharing how-to-handle-your-husband secrets. I promised myself I will never become one of them…It was somehow 'uncool' among my single friends to be one of them,.. be it in the future.

Anyway…I got married last year and I noticed something strange. Firstly, it was getting difficult to hang out with single people, we were somehow more comfortable hanging out with couples. And moreover, we were running out of topics to talk about. The conversation automatically steered to ' so what did you make today?' '..Oh! how did you prepare that?'  After realizing where most of our conversations went i realized…I was one of 'them'.

I also realized one more thing, Being a married woman- handling the household, doing a job AND studying at the same time is a great achievement and definitely calls for a standing ovation. I apologize to all the women i misjudged and misinterpreted as uncool. I now have a new found respect for you all.
